About Hungry Jack Outfitters

Hello! We are the Seaton family

seaton_family

David, Nancy, our sons Ben and Will.   For over 25 years we have lived on Hungry Jack Lake, just a stone’s throw away from the BWCAW.

Nancy and David have traveled through canoe country extensively, guiding others and on our own.  Even though we both grew up in the Minneapolis area, canoeing in the BWCAW has been a part of our lives since childhood and we still get out every chance we can.  Nancy has always been attracted to the plants and flowers of the boreal forest and studied botany in the BWCA and Quetico.  Now she captures natural motifs in fused glass.  Like his grandfather, Dave was an early fish-a-holic and rode his bike miles to go fishing as a kid.  The Boundary Waters was a dream come true and is still the only place he feels truly at home.   His other passion is guitars and he builds and repairs guitars in the winter months.  Our annual forays into the woods keep us up to date on the pulse of the forest and where the fish are biting.

Our boys Ben and Will have been in the in the woods almost since birth.  They grew up paddling, exploring, fishing off the dock and reading tons of books.  Both are in college now and experiencing what the rest of the world has to offer. They may end up someplace else, but they will always be grounded here in the North Woods.  For many years we have prioritized family time and have managed trips with our boys, cousins and other family and friends.

Our specialty is information.

Anyone can rent you gear and pack your food; and while we feel our gear, food and facilities are great, there’s more to it.  Over the 25+ years we’ve been outfitting and renting cabins we’ve helped many people find what they want, learn a few new things about the woods and make memories.

To achieve this we listen to what you are saying about who you are, why you want to come here, and what you hope to accomplish. This allows us to help you choose the trip that will turn those goals into realities.

We give you all the information you need to find the experience you want. Whether you need  instruction on paddling or pointers on jigging for walleye, guidance on packing so your clothes all fit and stay dry or directions for finding native pictographs or orchids, we’d like to help with your vacation.

See you in the woods!
