2021 is finally here

Howdy folks!  This last year has been crazy.  I’ll just leave it there.  2021 has to be better. A trip to the Boundary Waters is certainly a welcome addition to any year.

BWCAW permits open tomorrow January 27th and we will be making a bunch of reservations for guests.  If you have not made a reservation yet or just can’t decide on a date don’t panic.  There will still be permits left. 

It is true that last summer was really busy and many of the “easy, short portage, good fishing, nice views and not too many people” entry points filled fast – people were still able to get a permit even at the last minute in many cases.

We do expect demand to be high again this year so the better permits will go to those who plan ahead.  And remember – if you want canoes from us, or a place to stay overnight…  just call and reserve.  Don’t wait.  There were a few disappointed folks last summer who found out all our boats were reserved or we had no rooms at the inn.

So it’s time to have the conversation with your friends, family and regular fishing buddies.  

All that said, the BWCAW permit system does work to limit the number of people in the woods.  

The Boundary Waters is and will be the place to recharge, escape, relax, explore and enjoy time with those you love for a long time to come.
