It’s Official! Partial Reopening of the BWCAW!
We just got word that parts of the BWCAW will officially reopen starting Thursday July 30.
You can read the release for yourself:
https://www.fs.usda.gov/r09/superior/alerts/bwcaw-wildfire-area-closures
The area we use most is in the main block of the BWCAW that will reopen. Essentially its all the entry points south and east of the end of the Trail will be open. There are also many entry points along the southern edge of the wilderness too. We’ve had significant rain over the last few days allowing fire fighters to gain the upper hand on the fires west of here. Smoke is nearly gone and very much in the normal range. You can visit Airnow.gov to see what it is in real time:

We don’t have any news about other entry points but if things stay calm there could be further openings at a later date. Fingers crossed.
Looks like people will be able to enjoy the wilderness again! If you have a trip reserved through us for the coming days feel free to give a call if you have questions. All permits starting in the affected area will be valid starting Thursday.
Hope to see you soon.
